Civic Long Weekend in August

The Durham Saddle Club Youth Team is a group of riders, 18 and under who participate in the Ontario Saddle Club Youth Team Tournament in Paris, Ontario. The team worked hard and placed well in each class, going up against 30 to 40 riders in each class. It was a great weekend and we hope to see more of our Durham Saddle Club Youth show in 2014 at the Ontario Saddle Club Youth Team Tournament. We usually head out to Paris, Ontario on the Friday to get set up for the weekend, get the horses settled, set up our tents/camping trailers. Our team participates in English, Western and Speed events over the course of the weekend at the Paris Fairgrounds.

What is the Durham Saddle Club’s Youth Team?

Every year Durham Saddle Club sends a team of youth riders to Paris, Ontario to compete in the Ontario Saddle Club Youth Team Tournament. This year the show is August 4th - 6th, 2017.  There are classes English, Western, and Speed. We fundraise every year to raise money to be able to participate and most years the only cost to the members is for their food for the weekend.

 

What exactly is the Ontario Saddle Club Youth Team Tournament?

It’s a weekend of fun for everyone, and we even get to camp overnight with our horses. Normally we are competing against each other, but at the Youth Team Tournament we get the opportunity to work together as a team.

How do I qualify?

You need to be a Durham Saddle Club member, 18 or under as of January 1st, 2017, and you must show in at least 2 Durham Saddle Club shows this season.

 

 

*All ponies MUST measure 13hh or higher to be able to compete*
